
Mountain Krn is rising above the emerald Soča River.
During the First World War mountain Krn was the scene of very important and bloody battles of the Isonzo Front. Numerous remains are still visible.
Numerous paths lead up to it:
Planina Kuhinja - Krn
The easiest is southern access from small mountain village Krn or a little further lying mountain pasture Planina Kuhinja.
Time: Planina Kuhinja - Krn: 3.30 hours
Drežnica - Krn
The Western approach is appropriate for experienced mountaineers. It begins in mountain village Drežnica. One part of the Western Drežnica route is Silvo Koren Route (via ferrata), which is climbing route.
Time: 5 - 6 hours
Lepena - Krnsko jezero (lake) - Krn
Access from north leads through the woods up to Mountain pasture near Krn's lake (2 hours). From there hikers need up to Krn approximately 3 hours.
10 minutes above the top of the mountain Krn, there is Mountain pasture Gomisckovo zavezisce with beds, food and drink.
