Beekeepers’ conventions were very popular from the end of the 1960s to the beginning of the 1970s. Jože Rihar, Ph.D. (1914–2002), born in Gabrje pri Dobrovi, was a university professor of apiculture at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana; tributes to him are the Rihar Promenade (Riharjev drevored) and the Rihar Apiary (Riharjev čebelnjak) at the Polhov Gradec beekeeping centre, today’s commercial headquarters of a well-known beekeeping company, Božnar Čebelarstvo, d.o.o.
