Day 1: Tour of the Museum of Modern History of Slovenia in Cekin Manor in the wonderful setting of Ljubljana’s Tivoli Park. The museum houses the permanent exhibition “Slovenes in the 20th Century” for which it was nominated to be European Museum of the Year. A visit to the Church of Mary, Queen of Peace on Mount Kurešček, where we read: “This will be a place of grace, a place of healing spiritual illness and wounds. Whoever seeks refuge here in my heart and my Son’s heart with faith will be healed and given the peace that only Heaven can give.”
Day 2: An excursion to the Iški Vintgar gorge. The Iška River created a gorge of incredible beauty and preserved nature where we can experience a mountain setting with chamois and the endemic Carniola cowslip on the very threshold of the capital city. A tour of the Technical Museum in Bistra. The museum has a rich exhibition of Slovenia’s technical heritage and a very interesting collection of limousines of the president of the former Yugoslavia, Marshal Tito.
