On the edge of the village below the church stands the birth house of the poet of Slovenian fin de siecle, Dragotin Kette (Prem, 19th January 1876 - Ljubljana, 26th April 1899). The poet was born in the old primary school (Prem 83). His father, Filip, was a teacher and an organist there. The two-storey school building from 1826 is preserved. A memorial plaque to the poet was built on the street side of the façade in 1968. The entrance of the ground floor is a kind of a passage to the "black" kitchen with an open hearth. On the left side are two rooms, first the former living room and then the bedroom.

By the year 1969, the architect Janez Suhadolc had arranged a memorial room on the premises. The furniture of the teacher's family is exhibited. Besides the objects and fittings from the poet's youth, there are panels with an explanation of his life and literary legacy.
