To reach this picturesque gorge, turn off to Bled (28) from the Ljubljana - Kranjska Gora expressway and drive another four kilometer through Spodnje Gorje to Podhom. If you start walking or bicycling from Bled, take the shortcut through Podhom to the south entrance of the gorge through Zasip past the Church of Sv. Katarina from where a trail leads to the north end of gorge. The walk through 1600 m long gorge will take you only about half an hour, but you will never forget it. Carved into the steep walls of the gorge, the trail leeds you over bridges and through galleries just above tumultuous rapids and deep pools of crystal-clear water. the gorge ends at the 16- meter high Šum Waterfall. Vintgar (32) is a protected natural site and is one of the natural science trails of Triglav National Park. We also recomend visiting the Pokljuške soteske gorges in Krnica near Zgornje Gorje.
