Add a hiking adventure to your holiday at the seaside. The Karst Region and the Slovenian part of the Istria Peninsula – this is an open and windy terrain dominated by the north-east wind known as the “burja.” A marked trail follows the Karst Edge, enabling you to walk from the Italian to the Croatian border. In multiple spots, you can leave the trail to visit the coast or to hike up to Mt. Slavnik.
Hiking trails lead you from the area known for the traditional craft of woodenware, across the woods of Kočevje, to the southernmost areas of Slovenia along the River Kolpa, from the Bela Krajina Region, across the Gorjanci Hills, on the trails of the White Monks to the Suha Krajina Region and the valley of the River Krka.
A vast mountainous world, picturesque natural parks, lakes, and the lively River Savinja are a popular destination for hikers, photographers, and lovers of active getaways. The walking, themed, educational, hiking trails and mountain tours in this area have various levels of difficulty. The Menina Planina Plateau, Mt. Golte, the Logar Valley, the Solčava Panoramic Road, Mt. Paški Kozjak, and the Šalek Mountain Route are full of wonderful trails for hikers and mountain lovers.
