The village lies in the Upper Vipava Valley, along the road connection Ljubljana-Nova Gorica, where a visitor, who travels from the interior of Slovenia over Rebrnice, sees the beauties and unique characteristics of the valley. Podnanos is represented by the Primorje region climate, architecture, vine growing area and noble wine in wine cellars. Together with the nearby settlements Podbreg, Hrašče, Poreče and Orehovica, it forms one local community with a population of approximately 800 inhabitants.

Points of distinction :

Podnanos has many unprocessed stone bridges. By the road toward Orehovica the well preserved Zajčji grad (The Rabbits’ castle) stands, above the road toward Podraga the Rožnik Castle. Other famous buildings are the Church of St. Cosmos and St. Damian and the Dolenc manor house.

ACCESS

Automobiles :

Podnanos lies along the road Rebrnice – Vipava. From the village roads lead through Vrabče to Karst and the nearby towns Lozice and Podraga. The road to Nanos splits at the beginning of Rebrnice. The village is also the starting point of two marked paths to Nanos.
