This is a village of “uskoki”. Once here was a county of someone named Čič from Istria. The village name presumably derived from the word brdje – a hilly landscape. Later the letter d was left out due to an easier pronouncing.
On the Plac are a local well (from 1898) and a cattle trough. On the
spot of a former church you can see a pil. In the village surroundings are two caves pri Bezi and pri Studenci. From Brje lead two paths: a marked walkway leads to Tomaj and a macadam footpath to Ponikve. In Brje is very lively on the 30th of April when villagers set up a maypole, organize a picnic on the Plac and light a bonfire.
Automobiles : In the village Kopriva turn right on narrow road for Brje.
