Gradišče at Vipava is a beautiful, Primorje region village, which lies beneath the sleep slope of Nanos plateau in the Upper Vipava Valley.

The village is one of starting points to reach Nanos. It is very easy to come to Gradišče: you just drive two kilometres out of Vipava to the parking place on the top of the village (240 metres). There is the best starting point to walk to Gradiška Tura (761 m) and Plaz (529 m). You can choose between the easy or the more difficult, climbing paths. One of the many paths to Vojkova koča on Nanos (1240 m) takes you by the Church of St. Nicholas.

In the rock faces of Gradiška Tura, there is a famous climbing location with 196 climbs.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION: It was mentioned as a prehistoric settlement in Zatrep, above the village, already in the Hallstatt period. This is a period in the Early Iron Age, which lasted till 300 b. c. in the Slovene territory.
