Slovenian Tourist Board is a proud partner of this year's Conventa week
From 24 to 27 August, Conventa Week is taking place, which in a hybrid form connects the Conventa International Business Exchange and the Conventa Crossover Conference. The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) is the partner of the event also this year.
Yesterday, an evening reception for foreign and Slovenian participants opened the Conventa Week, which t takes place in a hybrid form due to corona-related restrictions. For the first time, this event brings together the Conventa International Business Exchange and the Conventa Crossover Conference. As in previous years, the STB is one of the partners of the event.
The event is attended by 77 exhibitors (business meetings and events industry providers from 13 countries) and 113 invited guests (representatives of the business tourism public) from 24 countries, as well as 10 representatives of specialized foreign media from 8 countries. For them, a special itinerary has been built. As part of the Conventa Week, more than 2,000 meetings will be held, which in times of pandemic and limited meetings in the tourism industry represents a valuable opportunity to nurture existing and establish new business connections.
Together with key business tourism partners, STB plans to relaunch the industry
Business tourism is a segment that is particularly affected during a pandemic, as it heavily depends on foreign tourists and air connections. According to the European Commission, business tourism has experienced harsh decline, by as much as 90 percent and more. According to some international research institutions, this industry could not fully recover until 2024.
MSc. Maja Pak, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board: “This year, the Slovenian Tourist Board is once again participating in the organisation of Conventa Week and I am pleased that we can once again welcome many foreign participants in the congress industry. We pay special attention to the relaunch of the business meetings and events industry. It is one of the key products of Slovenian tourism, which has been particularly affected by the pandemic, as it is largely dependent on foreign tourists and air connections. Business tourism and events are a product with a high multiplier effect, which significantly contributes to deseasonalization, geographical diversification of tourist flows and growth in guest consumption. It also plays an important role in restarting urban tourism."
