Slovenia receives a great deal of attention at International Travel & Tourism Awards

The prestigious International Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTA) were awarded last night in 15 different categories at the WTM London. The title of Highly Commended went to the Slovenian Tourist Board for its promotional campaign Feel Slovenia, Experience Croatia, and to Ljubljana Tourism for its Green Supply Chains project, while Bohinj Tourism received the Silver Award for its Creating Sustainable Destination Model project.

At one of the most important hubs of the global tourist industry, WTM London, Slovenia again received numerous international acknowledgments for its innovative and modern approach to promoting tourism and carrying out sustainably oriented projects.

The ITTAs were presented for the second year in a row in cooperation with WTM London, awarding outstanding projects in global tourism and the tourist industry in 15 categories. This year saw more than 70 entries from all over the world. The winners were chosen by an independent international panel of renowned experts in various segments of the tourist industry.

Bohinj Tourism received the Silver Award in the Responsible Tourism category for its Creating Sustainable Destination Model project, aimed at promoting sustainably oriented strategies and projects in creating sustainable tourist practices. 

Four projects of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) promoting Slovenian tourism and sustainable practices were shortlisted for the ITTAs: the communication campaign marking the first World Bee Day in 2018 in the Best PR Campaign category, various promotional activities to raise the profile of the Alpe Adria Trail, carried out in partnership with the Promoturismo FVG and the Kärnten Werbungin, in the Best in Adventure category, and the Alpe Adria Golf project in cooperation with Kärnten Werbung in the Best in Luxury category.

The STB won the title of Highly Commended in the category of Best National Tourism Board Campaign for its promotional campaign Feel Slovenia, Experience Croatia.  The campaign was carried out together with the Croatian National Tourist Board on the Chinese market to raise the profile of both destinations and inspire people to visit the two countries. It encompassed social media, luxury travel magazines and workshops. Other finalists in this category were Azerbaijan (Take Another Look by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board), India (Incredible India by CNBC), Trinidad and Tobago (Revitalising Tobago Tourism by Gravity Global), Saint Kitts and Nevis (The St. Kitts Shout Out by Rooster PR), and New Zealand (#GetNZontheMap by Tourism New Zealand).

Ljubljana Tourism received the title of Highly Commended in the Best Food Destination category for its Green Sustainable Chains project. It brings together the subprojects Local Food Market, Culinary Calendar and Ljubljana Breakfast, focusing on sustainable development in gastronomy and providing local, authentic experiences.

The International Travel & Tourism Awards were presented last night at the award ceremony attended by approximately 500 travel industry decision-makers and leaders.
