Jubilee 20th Edition of the Slovenian Incoming Workshop

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has been organising the flagship event of the Slovenian tourist industry for twenty years. Featuring prearranged meetings between Slovenian tourism providers and foreign tour operators, the Slovenian Incoming Workshop (SIW) is an opportunity to strengthen successful partnerships and encourage new connections. This edition of SIW took place in Ljubljana from 11 to 13 May. The programme also included study tours through which foreign participants could discover the various destinations and tourism products that Slovenia has to offer.

Jubilee 20th Edition of the Slovenian Incoming Workshop

This year's 20th SIW took place in Ljubljana. Participants included 220 representatives of the Slovenian tourism sector from a total of 130 companies and 188 representatives of 146 companies from other countries.

Of the foreign participants, 67% were attending SIW for the first time. They came from 42 countries, with the largest numbers coming from the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom. This year also saw the first participants from Lebanon. SIW was also attended by companies from other continents, with representatives arriving from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, the USA and elsewhere. There were more than 3.000 business meetings during the Workshop on 12 May.

Here are some impressions of foreign tour operators about Slovenia and their green, active and healthy experiences:

I just returned from Slovenia two days ago. I must say that the greatest treasure of the country are the citizens. Everyone is genuinely nice, friendly, English-speaking, and open to tourists. It is super clean, tranquil, and the pedestrian city zone in Ljubljana is fantastic. It's so affordable in comparison to other European cities. I NEVER saw a policeman, security guard or soldier with a gun. The people have a great life evidenced by their very healthy appearance and their constant smiles. Lots to eat and very healthy sustainable food.  They practice Farm to Table food, and yes, the natural water from the faucet is better tasting than bottled water. We ate some very fine cuisine as well as some "zero kilometer" seafood. By that I mean it was swimming the night before it was on my plate. But by the end of the week I realized the biggest thing I was taking with me is that the people of Slovenia feel rich!  They are rich in lifestyle. They feel very fortunate to have all that they do in Slovenia.

I would like to thank you for the organization of the Slovenia tour. I have to say that the organization from beginning until the end was superb. The hotels, transfers, meetings, the sights, the delicious food and everything in green Slovenia was amazing to visit. Thanks once again. I will definitely be back! Likely already in September to further explore possibilities for cooperating with various Slovenian companies in 2018.

Hossein Pessaran, OGE TOUR OPERATORS, Iran

I would like to thank you and your colleagues in the Slovenian Tourism Board for your fantastic programmes. I believe everything was executed perfectly. The workshop meetings were very useful and I hope all the participants and visitors get very good results from this event. Your pre-tours and post-tours gave a fantastic insight to your beautiful country.”
