The 10th anniversary Slovenian Tourist Forum opened today in Rogaška Slatina. The two-day Forum features numerous seminars and public discussions on topics regarding tourism development on the national, regional and local levels. The Forum addressed many current topics: Slovenia’s Presidency of the EU, the new Slovenian trademark—and, within its frame, the trademark of Slovenian tourism—, the golden anniversary of the Community of the Slovenian Natural Health Resorts and numerous other examples of local and foreign good practices.

Today, the Forum witnessed the premiere launch of a new development – the Tourist Press Agency (TTA). This is the first online tourist press agency in Slovenia and, as such, it represents a new development in the field of informing Slovenian and foreign journalists and those interested in news from the field of Slovenian tourism. The portal www.tta.si offers current, daily updated news from the field of Slovenian tourism, available in both Slovenian and English.

For the first time ever in the Forum, the STB has granted the title Ambassador/Ambassadress of Slovenian Tourism 2007 to an eminent foreign citizen, known in Slovenia and abroad for his efforts in raising awareness and reputation of Slovenia in other countries – the Italian Marco Piangiani from the Extempore Viaggi company. Each year, at the Forum, the STB grants the Sower awards - sejalec - for innovative and creative achievements in tourism. First place (the Gold Sower) went to Konzorcij za potniški terminal Koper (The Consortium for the Koper Passenger Terminal) for their Koper Passenger Port project, second (the Silver Sower) went to the Zavod Židana marela institute for their Slovenian Evening project, and third place was shared by two contestants, Hotel Piran, d. d., for their Bioenergetic Resort Salinera, and the Ljubljana Tourist Board for their Interactive Map of Ljubljana project. The Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia (BTPS) has now been in operation for a year and its performance was presented at the Forum. Both STB projects, the Sower and the BTPS, were created with the intention of establishing an environment that would support tourist innovations. The latest results confirm that both projects are heading in the right direction.
