Magical December in Portorož and Piran

December in Portorož and Piran will be a magical month. Visitors will be able to enjoy numerous events in these festively decorated coastal towns. On 19 December, the Slovenian Army Orchestra will be performing in the Portorož Auditorium with guest singers Darja Švajger and Branko Robinšak. On 21 December in the same venue, visitors will be able to experience the warm spiritual music of the Christmas concert by the successful British gospel band IDMC – Individuals Dedicated to the Ministry of Christ.

On Saturday, 22 December, there will be a Christmas antiques fair in Piran and, from 23 December to 7 January, the Piran churches will have Christmas cribs on display. On 30 December, the Portorož Auditorium will be the venue of the traditional New Year’s gala concert by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by George Pehlivanian and with the solo singers Urška Žižek (soprano) and Tomislav Mužek (tenor).

The activities will reach a climax on 31 December, in the New Year’s Eve celebration in Piran and on 1 January 2008, when the new year will also be greeted in Portorož with fireworks. During the holidays, both our youngest and those a little older will be able to partake in the December fairy tale taking place in the Trg 1. maja square in Piran and in the Trg Prekomorskih brigad square in Portorož, as there will be workshops for children, meetings with Father Frost, a cultural and entertainment programme and a Christmas fair offering.
