The New European Support Network for Companies

On 7 February 2008, Günter Verheugen, Vice President of the European Commission for Enterprise & Industry, announced the establishment of a new European support network for companies – the Enterprise Europe Network. Slovenia was the only country and tourist destination to co-operate in the establishment of this project. This project will operate as an agent for stimulation of the potential and innovation of small and medium-sized companies in the European Union, along with their promotion. Approximately one thousand delegates from across Europe attended the event. The Slovenian stand offered tourism and economy-related information on Slovenia. Janez Potočnik, the European Commissioner for Science and Research, Andrej Vizjak, MSc, and Boris Kunilo from the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) were among those attending the opening of the event.
