Renowned Experts Address Sustainable Tourism in Lipica

The Directorate for Tourism at the Ministry of the Economy held a conference on “Activities for Sustainable European Tourism” on 15 April 2008 in Lipica.

The conference was open to the general and professional public. Experts presented the proposed measures and activities for sustainable European tourism that were outlined in the 2007 “Activities for More Sustainable European Tourism” report issued by the Tourism Sustainability Group, which was founded in 2004 by the European Commission, along with examples of good practice in sustainable tourism development in Slovenia and abroad and relevant UNWTO guidelines and recommendations. The Director General of the Directorate for Tourism at the Ministry of the Economy, Mr. Marjan Hribar, M.Sc., and other speakers, including Luigi Cabrini, Head of the UNWTO Sustainable Tourism Development department, discussed the importance of sustainable European tourism.

This conference has been one of the most important tourism events during the Slovenian EU Council presidency.
