Thalia Edition, a renowned Paris publisher, in association with the Slovenian Embassy in France and the Slovenian Tourist Board, has released a book by Sophie Massalovitch and Jean-Marie Boëlla entitled Slovénie, L'Europe en miniature. The book’s photographs were provided by Slovenian photographers Matevž Lenarčič and Bogdan Kladnik. Given the lack of Franch literature on Slovenia, it is a truly notable achievement as it presents 175 pages of comprehensive information about Slovenia, its history, culture, regions and sites of interest. It provides a faithful account of Slovenia, it is written in a pleasant, enjoyable style by a world-famous author of guidebooks, Sophie Massalovitch, and contains a lively and colourful collection of photographs. Besides giving vivid descriptions of places, habits, customs and scenery, it also features many quotations by Slovenian authors, from Valentin Vodnik to Ciril Zlobec, as well as some foreign sources, for instance Baedeker and French authors, so as to “give a faithful presentation of the Slovenian identity and the way Slovenia is perceived by foreigners, especially the French”. The book, selling in French bookstores at 39 euros, is an ideal gift for French business partners, tour operators and members of the press.
