The 24th Summer Olympic Games start on 8 August 2008 at 8:00 am in Beijing. Attracting people from all walks of life, the Olympic Games are undoubtedly one of the leading events in the world. The Slovenian Olympic Committee, in association with the Slovenian Tourist Board and other key local and foreign partners, is setting up a sporting, economic and tourism project called The Slovenian House, Beijing 2008.

The aim of the project is to create a powerful, integrated tool for a comprehensive promotion of Slovenia, its economy, sport, tourism and culture; with political support, all of these areas overlap and complement each other.

Economic promotion will be carried out on two levels: corporate project sponsors will have the opportunity to attend business conferences, to hold individual business meetings with targeted counterparts based on company profiles, and to present their products and services. The Slovenian House will host a number of state receptions, and what is more, it will serve as a venue for meeting Chinese business partners. The economic promotion will involve the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, JAPTI (Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments), the China Chamber of Commerce and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The Slovenian Tourist Board, the leading authority for promoting Slovenian tourism, will use the Slovenian House to hold various workshops, a press conference and a reception for China's major tour operators.

As a media centre for the Slovenian delegation to Beijing in the broadest sense, the Slovenian House will serve as a venue for press conferences held by Slovenian sport teams, receptions for sports association representatives and celebrations of Slovenian sporting successes.

The Slovenian House in Beijing will form a sporting, economic and tourism hub.
