Germany’s First Slovenia Mountain Biking Guide

The new German-language mountain biking guide Slowenien, 30 Mountainbiketouren im Soča-Tal (Slovenia, 30 mountain bike tours in the Soča Valley) is out. Two young German authors, Peter Immich and Michael Kemmler, spent the last two years on active holidays in the Soča Valley, where they were so impressed by the valley's mountain biking possibilities that they decided to write and publish a guidebook. The guide is intended for experienced mountain bikers and comprises 30 tours of different degrees of difficulty. It is divided into three parts: the starting point of the first part is Bovec, the second Kobarid, and the third Tolmin. The guide opens with a short presentation of Slovenia, Triglav National Park and the Soča Valley, underlining cultural tradition, natural heritage and World War I. Each tour description is complete with a list of general information and attractions along the way, a detailed route description, GPS coordinates, map, route chart, and stunning photographs. The guide comes with 30 separate pocket-size sheets with maps and tour details—a perfect way if you want to take the directions with you on a tour. The authors also developed the www.mtb-slowenien.de web site, which features the latest information as well as changes and updates to the guide. The Slovenian version of the guide will have come out by next season.
