“Is the Drava River Basin management sustainable and well on the way?”

The International Symposium “DRAVA RIVER VISION”, 23-25 September 2008, Maribor, Slovenia, which is organized with the purpose to improve the common understanding of transboundary management of the Drava River Basin, is aimed as a meeting of nature protection, water management, hydropower and land use planning related officials, professionals and NGOs from the Drava River riparian countries, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary.

Sustainable management of transboundary river basins can be achieved also by seeking for common understanding and sharing good practices among the disciplines. Therefore, the International Symposium “Drava River Vision” is an important contribution to sustainability of the future developments in the Drava River Basin.

The International Symposium “Drava River Vision” is a part of the LIFE Project »Life Vein Upper Drau River«. It is organized by the Institute for Water of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of Carinthia, Department of Water Management, with assistance of the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia, Section Drava River Sub-Basin, and with support of the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia and the Austrian Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management.
