Via Alpina Project Continues

The annual meeting of the International Via Alpina Project Committee was held between 10–11 June in L'Argentiere de Bessee, France. The participants agreed to carry on with the Via Alpina project despite the fact that, according to Interreg, the project completed on 31 December 2007.

The purpose of the project’s continuation is to further promote Via Alpina trails, the promotion of which already takes place in all 8 Alpine countries, and offer tourist packages along the trails. For now, the continuation of the project will be coordinated by the International Secretariat of the Grande Traverse des Alpes and National Secretariats in individual countries. In Slovenia, this task is performed by the Pohodništvo GIZ Hiking Association.
