Slovenian Tourism Experts Optimistic About Future Development of Slovenian Tourism

We have published the second study on the Slovenian Tourism Confidence Index, which is calculated based on electronic survey results by the Institute for Tourism of the Faculty of Economics (ITEF) at the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB).

It is a study of views of different private and public sector groups on the development of tourism in Slovenia, where ratings provided by a panel of tourism experts are used to give quarterly expectations in terms of the development of Slovenian tourism for the four-month period ahead. Prospects for the following four months are above average.
That tourism performance in May–August 2008 will be better—which would be reasonable to expect in the given time of year—is expected by 53.8 percent of experts from the public sector. The private sector has some reservations regarding prospects for the May–August 2008 period, as only 39.3 percent expect performance to improve. High expectations for the coming May–August 2008 period mostly stem from Slovenia's EU presidency, development of new products and good promotion; in contrast, high inflation, high oil prices and the US Dollar exchange rate are cause for pessimism.
