Slovenian Tourist Board Promotes Eco-Friendly Tourist Accommodation

In June, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) released an A4 folder and insert for the promotion of eco-friendly tourist accommodation facilities. The first insert features Terme Snovik, the first Slovenian tourism company to have received the prestigious European eco-label for tourist accommodation service, the EU daisy.

This official European eco-label for tourist accommodation service was introduced in 2003. Holders of the “daisy” eco-label are officially recognized as environment-friendly businesses working to reduce environmental pollution, promoting a more efficient use of energy and other natural resources, and using organic produce.
Having received the “daisy” eco-label in February, Terme Snovik director, Mr Ivan Hribar said: “We are aware of the rich nature around us, so we work towards preserving a green, clean and healthy environment.” The idea behind the highest-altitude spa in Slovenia has always been to become a spa that is friendly to guests and the environment, and energy-efficient at the same time. This vision has been pursued from the beginning and today it is clear that they have made the right choice. Their concern and care for the environment are not just big words. Apart from the “daisy”, they hold other energy efficiency awards too. One of such is the “Energy Efficient Company 2008 Award”, which was presented by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning in association with the Finance newspaper.
