Convention Industry Workshop in Munich

On 9 July 2008, the Slovenian Convention Bureau, in association with renowned German marketing agency Travel Marketing Factory, the Slovenian Tourist Board, its Munich office, the Ljubljana Tourist Board and 14 members of the bureau, held a convention industry workshop for the German market.
The workshop was held at a well-known restaurant in the Munich city centre, “Der Katzlmacher”. The event was attended by 30+ Bavarian event organisers. Ahead of the workshop, most of them had been unaware that Slovenia was a convention and incentive destination.
The presentation of Slovenia as a new attractive convention and incentive destination highlighted Slovenia’s advantages in this area, such as accessibility, diversity, quality, etc. In addition to witnessing the visual presentation, the German guests also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of Slovenian tourism, specifically convention industry. The guests enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean dinner, served with top-quality Slovenian wine by winemaker Ferdinand from Goriška Brda. The event also included a musical performance of a young guitar and violin duet, which was staged by the Tartini Festival. A draw was also held to give away 13 prizes to the German audience. The prizes were presented to the lucky winners by Slovenian workshop participants: Adria Airways, Austria Trend Hotel Ljubljana, Best Western Hotel Ljubljana/Bled, Grand Hotel Union Ljubljana, Hoteli Bernardin Portorož, Hotel Mons Ljubljana, Kompas, Korensports, LifeClass Hotels & Spa Portorož, Metropolgroup Portorož, Terme Olimia, Terme Radenci, Ljubljana Tourist Board.
After the event, Mr Miha Kovačič, director of the Slovenian Convention Bureau, pointed out the interest in Slovenia that arose during individual discussions among guests and Slovenian representatives, and the positive atmosphere at the dinner. The foreign participants were impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the Slovenian hosts.
