Slovenian House in Beijing Opens

The Slovenian House in Beijing officially opened with the 9 August reception. Some hundred fans of Slovenian sports gathered at the reception. The reception was hosted by president of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, Mr Janez Kocijančič, M.Sc., and director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, Mr Dimitrij Piciga, M.Sc. They were confident that the Slovenian public will be delighted by the results of Slovene athletes during the 29th summer Olympic Games. Relaxed and cheerful atmosphere at the reception was a clear indication of the optimism of the Olympic team.

Business meetings will be held at the Slovenian House throughout the Olympic Games. The first economic delegation currently in Beijing brings together 11 Slovenian companies and institutions, half of which from the tourism sector, led by Mr Marjan Hribar, M.Sc., Director-General of the Directorate for Tourism at the Ministry of the Economy. The delegation has already visited the Changzhou Technology Park and attended a business seminar on the topic “Doing Business with China”.
Representatives of the Ministry, Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI), and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS) will be actively involved in the programmes for the first and the other two delegations, visiting from 13–19 and 19–26 August. The second economic delegation will be led by the Minister of the Economy, Mr Andrej Vizjak, M.Sc. In all, 34 representatives of Slovenian companies from various industries will be visiting China during the Olympics.
