Projected growth of tourist numbers and overnight stays continued in July

The Slovenian tourism economy registered a continuing growth of tourist numbers and overnight stays, by both domestic and foreign visitors, in the first seven months of 2008.

The Slovenian tourism economy registered a continuing growth of tourist numbers and overnight stays, by both domestic and foreign visitors, in the first seven months of 2008.

A more than 10-percent increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays over the same period last year was registered with the Benelux and Scandinavian countries and overseas markets.
According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SORS), the total number of overnight stays in the first seven months of 2008 increased by 3% (4,746,750 overnight stays in total) over the same period in 2007, with a 2% and 4% increase in the number of foreign and domestic visitors respectively. Also recorded was a 3-percent increase in tourist arrivals (to 1,536,927 arrivals) compared to the same period last year, with foreign tourist arrivals up by 3%, domestic 4%.
