According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, 31.1% of Slovenian population aged 15 and above took about 940,000 tourist trips, either private or business, in the second quarter of 2008.
According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, 31.1% of Slovenian population aged 15 and above took about 940,000 tourist trips, either private or business, in the second quarter of 2008.
The percentage of people on tourist trips was up by 5.1 percentage points and the number of tourist trips taken by 17.7% over the same period in 2007.
The main reason for 82.9% of tourist trips was leisure (holidays, time off, travel), and the reason for the other 17.0% of private trips was visiting relatives and friends.
Most Slovenian tourists on private trips inside Slovenia visited places in the municipalities of Piran, Bohinj, Koper and Izola. As to trips to foreign countries, Slovenian tourists most often visited Croatia (55.7%), followed by Italy (7.6%), Germany (6.5%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (5.4 %), and Austria (5.3%).
