Advertising Slovenian Tourism Offer in Bavaria: Call for Cooperation

The year 2008 brought Germany a number of economic problems, since September there has been talk of recession, and the research sphere sees negative trends in the future. Promotional activities on the German market were running full throttle in the last year and a half, and now, given the current situation, it is time for a concrete sales-oriented campaign to market autumn and winter holidays and breaks in Slovenia.

So in order to promote Slovenian tourism packages among Bavarians, who have the highest buying power and are at the same time closest to Slovenia, the Slovenian Tourist Board Office in Germany developed a uniform approach for direct promotion of autumn and winter packages among consumers to appear in the Reisemarkt tourism supplement, which comes out every Saturday with two Bavarian dailies, the Tageszeitung and Muenchner Merkur. This way we reach 480,000 readers that fit our target audience profile: families, couples, employed individuals, people aged 50+.
We are currently working on two full-page colour features: the first is to come out as early as 18 October 2008, 14 days before autumn holidays, which take place from 1–9 November in Bavaria, the second on 8 November showcasing Advent and winter experiences in Slovenia.
The page layout will be designed to first give a brief presentation of the advantages Slovenia has to offer, the diversity, the Alps and the sea, possibilities for active holidays, wellness, gastronomy, Slovenian health resorts, cities and towns, highlighting Slovenia's favourable location and easy accessibility from Bavaria. We will underscore the quality of Slovenian tourism offer and invite people to pay Slovenia a visit.
We will see to the development of the general layout and concept, but most of the space will be filled by partners of Slovenian tourism and autumn and winter holiday packages.
The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) will buy advertising space in the total cost of EUR 30,000, or EUR 15,000 per full page, and charge partners a net amount of EUR 1,000 for presentations on one-eighth of the page.
This is a supplementary activity of the STB on the German market with the aim to maintain and enhance Slovenia's competitiveness for German tourists.
