Culture Day, Winter Open Day at Lipica Stud Farm

Apart from the traditional Stud Farm Days, which are normally held at the beginning of October, the Lipica Stud Farm is this year holding the first annual Winter Open Day, which will be held on 8 February every year, the day Slovenia celebrates Culture Day.

The Winter Open Day will focus on culture, cultural heritage, and Lipica as a cultural monument. There will be guided tours of the stud farm and various theme tours (first contact with Lipizzaner horses, Avgust Černigoj's gallery, the Hamilton collection, a museum collection of horse-drawn carriages, a tour of the wider Lipica estate, etc.). Also, there will be pony-trekking tours as well as creative and art workshops for children. Visitors will get to enjoy rides in a horse-drawn carriage, witness the art of horseshoeing and taste fig delicacies.
The event will also feature a presentation of the new book by Jana Vejnovič titled "Naši konji" (Our Horses) and a premiere screening of "Avgust Černigoj – Svoboda poučevanja" (The Freedom of Teaching), a film about Avgust Černigoj made by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ljubljana, under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Klement Podnar.
