Award-Winning Website

At the 3rd Tourism Communication Festival in Montenegro, the Maribor Tourist Board received an award in the Best Website category for its Maribor-Pohorje tourist destination website at www.maribor-pohorje.si.  

The 3rd Tourism Communication Festival was held between 12–14 February 2009 in Budva, Montenegro, in the context of the 18th International Tourism Exchange, Tourism Fair, Equipment For Hotels and Catering – Metubes. The award shows that the website development undertaken by the Maribor tourism industry is on the right track, which is further underpinned by the growing number of website visitors.
In 2008 the number of visits averaged 687 visitors a day, which means that the number of visitors and views went up by 60% and 10%, respectively, as against 2007. Most of the visits were generated by Slovenians (63%); in terms of international visits, however, the ranking is as follows: Austria (7%), Germany (5%), Croatia (5%), Hungary (2.5%), Italy (2.5%), United Kingdom (2%), Poland (1%), USA (1%), Serbia (1%). The award will undoubtedly improve the recognisability of the website and the Maribor-Pohorje destination in Montenegro.
