Slovenian Tourism's Level of Competitiveness

Slovenia ranked 35th on the overall tourism competitiveness scale. The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report, published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), covered 133 countries and was based on the evaluation of 14 factors affecting the competitiveness of the tourism and travel industry.

Compared to last year, the report included 4 additional countries, while one of last year's countries was left out in 2009. The report was prepared based on 14 factors directly affecting the competitiveness of the tourism and travel industry. Slovenia ranked in the upper half of the overall tourism competitiveness scale, or in other words, among countries that show above-average results in terms of the parameters taken into account.
Compared to last year's results, there were some changes which made a crucial contribution to the fact that Slovenia finished 35th overall. These changes are as follows: the two countries which ranked above Slovenia in 2008, Hungary and Israel, did worse in 2009, finishing behind Slovenia. Ranked below Slovenia in 2008, the United Arab Emirates finished two places ahead of Slovenia in 2009 (like last year, the 34th place, between Slovenia and the UAE, was taken by Croatia).
