Slovenian Tourism Office for Benelux Launched Promotion of Cooking Classes in Slovenia

In the middle of March, the Slovenian Tourism Office for Benelux launched the promotion of cooking classes in Slovenia to mark this year's keynote of Slovenian tourism "Taste Slovenia", which will – provided it kindles enough interest – be sure to continue in the coming years.

In the middle of March, the Slovenian Tourism Office for Benelux launched the promotion of cooking classes in Slovenia to mark this year's keynote of Slovenian tourism "Taste Slovenia", which will – provided it kindles enough interest – be sure to continue in the coming years.

The first to get to know Slovenian cuisine and wines will be members of the American Women's Club Brussels, who will be learning about the Slovenian wine culture this summer in the Karst region and in Goriška Brda and have a go at preparing polenta in a Teran sauce, jota, dumplings, frtalja egg omelette and similar delicacies. According to Rok Klančnik, Head of the Slovenian Tourism Office for Benelux, this idea will be embraced by various interest groups (such as women's clubs), as well as businesses and associations, as this is some sort of incentive travel. Groups will consist of up to 10 people, which could be further divided into two or three smaller subgroups. The most suitable hosts for such groups are small family-run hotels and guesthouses, particularly those offering both accommodation and renowned catering services. A number of such providers can be found in the Primorska, Štajerska and Koroška regions, as well as elsewhere. The principal condition is that a provider is able to furnish expert cooking advice (exclusively for preparing Slovenian dishes) and has plenty of space for "creativity". The trip also includes a visit to the renowned catering house Hiša kulinarike Jezeršek.
