The international project The Alps – A Bird's-Eye View presents the entire chain of the Alps through new aerial photographs and brings together the work of several internationally known authors, presenting it to the general public in an accessible way in the form of a book and a travelling open-air exhibition.

The premiere presentation of The Alps – A Bird's-Eye View took place on 16 April 2009 at Tivoli Castle in Ljubljana. The opening of the first open-air exhibition – in the Jakopič Avenue in Tivoli Park – took place at 6.00 p.m. The exhibition was opened by Mr Karl Erjavec, the Minister of the Environment and Spatial Planning and Mr Zoran Janković, the Mayor of Ljubljana.
The project is aimed at the 13 million inhabitants of the Alpine area and the many visitors – more than double this number every year – to this unique natural environment. Because the Alps, considered as a geological, geographical and cultural phenomenon, are a global "brand", the range of the project is significantly greater.
