Slovenian team at the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship

Last May, Slovenia secured its place at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Elite Championship (2023 IIHF WM) by winning the World Ice Hockey Championship Division IA. This competition is the top division of world ice hockey for the 2022/23 season. It will take place 12 - 28 May in Latvia and Finland. Slovenia will play a minimum of seven games against Canada, USA, Switzerland, Slovakia, Latvia, Norway and Kazakhstan, with additional games against teams to be announced at a later date if successful.  

The Elite Division World Championship is the world's most covered ice hockey event, with live coverage in more than 50 countries. According to the IIHF, the last championship (2022 IIHF WM) had 183 million views worldwide. 

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) recognises the importance of such international sporting events in enhancing Slovenia's image as a great and responsible destination for active holidays and athletes' training, and in strengthening the image of the I Feel Slovenia brand, and has therefore entered into a partnership agreement with the Hockey Federation of Slovenia (HZS), which will provide visibility for Slovenia and the national I Feel Slovenia brand at the event. In accordance with the agreement, the national I feel Slovenia brand will be displayed on the front of the helmets of the Slovenian men's national ice hockey team and will also be included in the image communication campaign of the HZS. At the same time, all HZS communication activities on the web and on social networks will include the hashtag #ifeelsLOVEnia, as well as the @feelslovenia profile and a link to www.slovenia.info.
