Slovenian kayakers and canoeists win silver and gold medals at the World Championships

The 2022 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Augsburg, Germany, is the highlight of this year's season. The competition opened with the national team matches, which will be followed by individual matches that will continue until Sunday, July 31. The Slovenian colours are represented by a strong team, which was proved with exceptional achievements already on the first day of the competition. The fans are looking forward to the individual matches, in which Slovenia has many chances for excellent results.

Eva Trčelj, Ajda Novak and Eva Alina Hočevar represented Slovenia in the women's team race in whitewater kayaking and won the silver medal. "We succeeded and I can only say that I am proud of all three. Improvements are of course possible, but as always, there is no such thing as a perfect ride. I don't differentiate between the colours of the medals, I'm equally happy with each one. I believe that this was not the last one," said Eva Trčelj, who is also among the favourites in the individual matches.

The most noble medal was won by the team of canoeists consisting of current Olympic champion Benjamin Savšek, Luka Božič and Anže Berčič. "I'm glad we got along so well. We did a great job today, we can be proud of it, but tomorrow is a new day and we have to move on. We will quickly turn our thoughts to the individual match or the qualification," said Benjamin Savšek, quickly turning his thoughts to new challenges after the team victory.
