Ljubljana ranks first among the 20 Best Green Capitals of Europe
Ljubljana has been ranked number one among the 20 Best Green Capitals in Europe. The title awarded by European Best Destinations comes as great recognition for Ljubljana's vision of sustainable tourism development.
To determine its new list of 20 Best Green Capitals in Europe, the European Best Destinations (EBD) organization considered evaluated several perspectives of sustainability, from air and water quality, public transport with zero CO2 emissions, green spaces per inhabitant, percentage of people who walk, cycle or take public transport to work, quality of life and the number of kilometers of cycle paths. Ljubljana was selected best.
The news was shared also by Forbes, which has more than 80 million readers: "Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, with the highest percentage of green space per inhabitant in Europe, has been ranked #1 European Best Green Capital."
But there's more: Ljubljana has not only been ranked the #1 European Green capital, it has also been the only capital in Europe to be included six times on the Sustainable Destination Top 100 list.
