The launch of the website of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU

The logo and slogan of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU

A month before the beginning of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Slovenia reveals its presidency's logo and slogan. The visual identity of the Slovenian Presidency reflects its guiding principle, priorities and objectives under the slogan "Together. Resilient. Europe.". The slogan was selected as a response to the challenges faced by the European Union and to the questions about its future development. The Slovenian Presidency will strive to actively contribute to strengthening the EU's resilience to health, economic, energy, climate and cyber crises. Working together, supporting each other and acting in solidarity for the good of each and every European citizen will be key to strengthening the EU’s resilience. All this is incorporated in the slogan "Together. Resilient. Europe.".

The logo symbolises the connection between Slovenia and the European Union.

The logo of the Slovenian Presidency, which was developed in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government Communication Office, holds many layers of symbolism.

The ribbon is in the colours of the Slovenian flag and in the shape of Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s national symbol, which represents Slovenia as a sovereign and independent state and a firm member of the European Union. It also symbolises the ups and downs in the development of the European Union. It is thanks to respecting the fundamental European values and everyone's persistent efforts for the common good that the European Union rises after every fall and becomes even more cohesive and resilient.

Since European values are the guiding principle of the Slovenian Presidency, there are seven gold stars of the European flag above Mount Triglav. The number of stars is not a coincidence. Seven represents the seventh stanza of Prešeren's poem A Toast (Zdravljica), which is the Slovenian anthem. The anthem's words call for dialogue and an open society, supporting the idea of integration and peaceful coexistence of all nations.

A special united site dedicated to the presidency of the EU is a new project. Previously, every member state holding the presidency created its own presidency website. Slovenia is the first to use this joint solution.

Special profiles of the Slovenian Presidency EU2021SI will be created on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. They will become active at the end of June and will provide information on current events and allow you to take a look at the behind the scenes of the Slovenian Presidency.
