Heritage will inspire us this autumn at the 33rd European Cultural Heritage Days and the 11th Cultural Heritage Week under the slogan "Rare and Precious Knowledge, Skills and Professions".
This year's program will be focused on learning about rare and precious traditional knowledge, skills, crafts and professions, which are disappearing. Heritage is key to the diversity of our lives and our identity. Traditional skills and knowledge are certainly key to what defines and presents us as unique in this global world. Do we ever wonder how much longer we will be able to watch a craftsman make a beautiful clay dish or how many years the craftsmen will be available to restore and renovate an old wooden house with thatched roof or a bourgeois villa with etched glass doors and walls covered with lacy stucco?
Between September 23 and October 10, over 400 events will take place throughout Slovenia, which will enable visitors to get to know the heritage through free visits to museums, galleries and perhaps lesser-known, forgotten or closed to the public cultural monuments.
