A hiking trail that broadens horizons

European countries situated in the alpine area have various things in common, including the Via Alpina long-distance route which winds through eight European countries – Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France and Monaco. The network covers over 5,000 kilometres in 342 stages, You climb from 0 to 3,000 metres altitude. The long-distance route is divided into five trails and two of them run through Slovenia – the Red and the Purple Trail.

From the sea to the Karavanke on the Red Trail

The 220-kilometre Red Trail will lead you through the territory of Slovenia from the Adriatic Sea through the Karst, Idrija and the Triglav National Park over the Vršič pass to the Karavanke. The trail in Slovenia covers 14 stages and can be travelled in one week.

Explore the Slovenian alpine world on the Purple Trail

The Purple Trail runs through Slovenia in ten stages. You can experience the magic of all the Slovenian alpine mountain ranges: the Julian Alps, the Karavanke Alps and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The trail begins at the foot of Triglav and leaves the territory of Slovenia in idyllic Jezersko.
