Mušič – Bodies of the Landscapes at Lojze Spacal Gallery

Mušič – Bodies of the Landscapes at Lojze Spacal Gallery

As part of the War and Peace programme, we present the renowned painter and printmaker Zoran Mušič, born in Bukovica near Nova Gorica. The exhibition at Dobrovo Castle marks the second exhibition of a series: in addition to the exhibition at Dobrovo Castle, Mušič's Zurich Room will be on display at the Attems Palace in Gorizia in May.

Portret Zoran Mušič

"I saw them for first time just after the war. They reminded me of naked corpses with no skin left on them. I've always imagined them the same, without seasons or colours." (Zoran Mušič)

As we enter the first floor of the gallery, we first pay tribute to the memory of Lojze Spacal and Zoran Mušič, generational talents who were inspired by the Karst landscape, as we are confronted with a selection of Mušič's works from his early period in Maribor, when he created his first portraits, landscapes and cityscapes. Mušič's formal search for the interplay of figure and landscape will be recognised in a selection of works from six cycles: the Konjiček (Horse) series, the Dalmatian motifs, the Sienese and Umbrian landscapes, the Stone Landscape, We Are Not the Last and the Vegetative motifs.

The exhibition is part of GO! 2025 official programme.
