Hike on the Aškerc Trail

This is a traditional hike to commemorate the death of poet Anton Aškerc (10 June).

We will visit places which are remarkably connected to the poet’s childhood and his early life. Starting in Zidani Most, we will walk through the settlements of Širje, Brezno, Straže, Lukovica, Senožete to Rimske Toplice. The hiking event will conclude at the Aškerc Homestead in Senožete, where you can visit the Anton Aškerc memorial house (ethnological museum).

Type: cultural and recreational hike
Start: at 7.30 a.m. at the Zidani Most Railway Station
Difficulty: moderate • Duration: 3 hrs (with all the stops)
Length: 9.3 km (Zidani Most Railway Station – Rimske Toplice Railway Station)
Lowest point: 216 m
Highest point: 537 m
