Secret rooms of the Hotel Jama

A documentary experience that opens the door to secret rooms where unusual hotel activities took place during the Iron Curtain period.

Sejalec Slovenia unique experience

Enter the secret spy centre of the iconic hotel

Awaken your inner secret agent and explore the former double life of the iconic Hotel Jama next to the famous Postojna Cave. A seemingly innocent tourist facility hides the spy rooms of the former political system. It’s all true. It’s all a lie.

Expect the unexpected

By entering the secret rooms of the Hotel Jama, you go back to the time of the Cold War and the tense and exciting political events of the Eastern Bloc countries. Visitors experience a feeling of excitement, as if they have just become part of a thriller. As if they stirred up a secret nest, where extraordinary technological devices were used to illegally intrude on the privacy of individuals and important politicians and determine their fate. The tension builds as you walk through dark windowless corridors and feel a sense of disorientation.

Another exhilarating aspect of the experience gives you exclusive access to authentic State Security Service wiretaps, which are otherwise only accessible with a special permit. The decision about what is true and what is a lie is left to each individual based on historical facts and the testimonies of the former employees and other people involved.

Did you know?

After the secret rooms were discovered during the renovation of the hotel in 2016, police officers were the first to enter them, followed by the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency SOVA, then the employees of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, and only then could their owners see the rooms.

The secret underground rooms of the secret communications centre are not drawn on any map. At the time, the rooms had the most modern communication and wiretapping equipment. It was even possible to escape from the secret rooms through the shaft into Postojna Cave.

Civilians also entered the rooms as part of the national campaign NNNP (nothing should surprise us). Even today, after so many years, no one dares to speak publicly.

Since its opening in 1971, the Hotel Jama has been a meeting place for influential and important people from the political arena.
