JUNE IN LJUBLJANA Festival invites you once again to the city centre of Ljubljana, to the Kongresni Trg square from 8th to 21nd June, to enjoy the exquisite artistic creations of dance, theatre, and music.
We are happy to invite you to the 15th edition of the festival June in Ljubljana, which will enrich the cultural life of our capital with a diverse programme of high-quality events.
The evening events offer concerts, ballet and dance performances to suit all tastes, while the mornings and afternoons are reserved for the youngest culture enthusiasts.
The festival will open with a concert by the excellent musicians of the Big Band of the Slovenian Armed Forces Orchestra, led by conductor Rudolf Strnad, with guests Neisha and Jana Šušteršič. They will present fresh big band arrangements of evergreen soul songs. A wonderful opening night is guaranteed!
The first evening will be followed by 14 lively festival days with many highlights, including a ballet day with the love story Radio and Juliet by choreographer Edward Clug, concerts by excellent performers, the Circus Day, the Rainbow Day, the Art Day, the Day of Contemporary Dance and much more. Our young audience will certainly be delighted by the day that will be set alight by the Rock Kids (Rock mulčki), as well as the day when we pick the winner of this year’s Špil Liga high school band league. There will also be a visit from the Godalkanje fiddle gangs, who will even invite us to dance with them this year.
The festival features over 20 events for children in the mornings and afternoons, and a total of more than 40 events.
As always, the festival June in Ljubljana ends on the day of the summer solstice, when Ljubljana will again join 700 cities around the world to celebrate Praznik Glasbe (Fête de la Musique). On this day, numerous musicians will bring colour to the nooks and crannies of Ljubljana with a diverse range of musical sounds, as Praznik Glasbe will feature more than 400 musicians and singers of all generations and all musical genres. The theme of music will permeate the town centre and the banks of the Ljubljanica River, as well as Ljubljana’s squares, bridges and other public areas, with the help of acoustic musicians, choirs, pop rock concerts and electronic dance music. If you keep your eyes and ears open, you may catch musicians performing where you least expect them.
Every day of the festival from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm you are invited to come and read in the LIBRARY UNDER THE TREETOPS organised by the Divja Misel (Wild Thought) Institute in the park of Congress Square.
Visiting the festival remains free for all visitors, and all of the events are held in Congress Square.
