67th Traditional Cow Ball 2026

67th Traditional Cow Ball 2026

Kravji bal is more than just an event—it is a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit of the region. Join us and experience Bohinj at its most authentic, vibrant, and joyful.

Set against the stunning natural surroundings of Ukanc, a unique Bohinj tradition comes to life each year: the Kravji bal, the oldest and most authentic event in the Bohinj region. Its origins date back to the 1950s, when local residents, alpine herdsmen, and innkeepers gathered at the end of the grazing and tourist season to celebrate a successful summer together.

Today, more than sixty years later, this cherished festival is still proudly organized by the Tourist Association Bohinj, remaining faithful to tradition and to the heritage of alpine pastoral life.

The highlight of the event is the arrival of herdsmen from the high mountain pastures, bringing beautifully decorated cattle down into the valley. On their shoulders they carry the “basenga”—the collection of tools and equipment needed for life and work on the alpine pastures. This spectacular procession is expected to take place at around 1:00 p.m., while the festival programme runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Performers include Ansambel Saša Avsenika, local music groups, Godba Bohinj, Folklore Group of KUD Triglav Srednja vas v Bohinju, Folklore Group of the Bohinj Cultural Association, and many others.
