Four acclaimed musicians active at leading European institutions will take the stage of the Križevniška Church. The program spans late Romanticism, contemporary creativity, and experimental extended techniques. Works by Robert Kahn, Mendelssohn, Berio, Pujanek, and Klughardt will be performed.

The stylistically varied programme connects works ranging from the late Romantic idiom to contemporary musical currents. In his chamber music, Robert Kahn shapes a lyrical and intimate sound world that enters into dialogue with the legacy of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, whose melodious piano miniatures Songs Without Words will also be performed. A completely different world is opened by Luciano Berio’s composition for solo oboe, one of his celebrated Sequenze, which use extended playing techniques to explore the expressive limits of the instrument. The work of Przemysław Pujanek, a violist and composer from Leipzig, represents contemporary musical creativity, while August Klughardt’s chamber composition reflects the influence of the New German School of the late nineteenth century.
