Competition at the velodrome is more than 150 years old and is also the basis for road cycling. It takes place at the velodrome, which is a special sports facility where cyclists reach extremely high speeds. Modern velodromes consist of two 180 degree banked turns and two flat sections. The most recognizable in the media are the Olympic disciplines, of which there are 12 (8 men and 4 women). Disciplines are divided into sprint and endurance. Racing cycling has been on the rise in recent years, both in terms of competition and media coverage. The major cycling nations invest heavily in this sport as it is an important Olympic sport with twelve sets of medals.
On December 28-29, 2023, we are organizing the Novo mesto Grand prix for the third time at the Olympic Center in Novo mesto. The international race is intended for all age categories, which will compete in various velodrome disciplines over two days. We expect over 300 competitors from several European countries. The race is under the auspices of the international cycling union UCI, which gives it even greater validity and visibility. We will conclude the two-day competition with the "madison" .
