Križnik's Fairy Tale Festival, entitled Jenkret je biv, is the first Kamnik's storytelling festival and the first at which fairy tales written by Gašper Križnik from Motnik are told.
The two-day festival has been held since 2012, on the first or second weekend of June. It is intended for children and adults.
It is created under the auspices of the France Balantič Library in Kamnik, the Motnik Cultural Society and the fairy tale writers Irene Cerar and Ivanka Učakar. Its purpose is to revive the cultural heritage preserved in his records by Gašper Križnik, one of the most important collectors of Slovenian folk tales from the second half of the 19th century.
At the festival, we host top storytellers from all over Slovenia. Locals also tell stories, passing on stories in the dialect.
