45. Dormouse Night

45. Dormouse Night

Dormouse Night is a traditional open-air ethnological event that introduces visitors to the ancient tradition of dormouse hunting in an engaging and immersive way. The event invites visitors to socialize, discover local customs, and experience the heritage of the Notranjska region firsthand.

Snežnik Castle, reflected in a tranquil pond and surrounded by greenery; in the foreground stands a visitor in a black dress and a straw hat.

Join us on an autumn afternoon. At 2 p.m we'll start with the running competition, followed by a cultural program and creative workshops for children. Visit a real dormouse-hunting camp, browse the local market, and enjoy food and drinks. As night falls, witness the traditional lighting of the dormouse-hunting fire, when the devil drives the dormice out to graze. Band Čuki will entertain us until late.
