Ljubljana Festival on the Ljubljanica

Ljubljana Festival on the Ljubljanica

The Ljubljanica River, rich in history and mythological stories, has for the eleventh consecutive year transformed into a picturesque concert stage. Inspired by a long tradition of musical events on the water dating back to the beginnings of the Philharmonic Society, Ljubljana Festival on the Ljubljanica brings together classical music, the vibrant pulse of the city, and its cultural heritage.

A group of five musicians outdoors holding brass instruments, including trumpets, a horn, and trombones. They stand on steps by a canal, wearing light attire.

With this cycle of musical events on the Ljubljanica, the river with seven names and an extraordinary archaeological and cultural heritage becomes, for the eleventh consecutive year, a magical concert stage. For Ljubljana’s musical past, however, the year 1704 is particularly significant, since it was marked by a concert on the water announcing the founding of the Philharmonic Society. The Ljubljana Festival on the Ljubljanica was created to bring classical music to the heart of the capital.
