Dodecalogy: 1983

The last, twelth episode of Tomi Janežič’s epic stage project Dodecalogy will take place.

In 1982, the United Kingdom makes the use of seat belts mandatory for drivers and front-seat passengers. 32 members of the Red Brigades are sentenced to life imprisonment for the 1978 kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro. At the Soviet research station Vostok in Antarctica, the lowest recorded temperature on Earth is measured: –89.2 °C. Yugoslavia and Italy sign the Rome Agreement.

Construction of the Osimska cesta, connecting Nova Gorica with the Goriška Brda, is underway. At the Nova Gorica stadium, a match between the women’s national teams of Yugoslavia and Italy takes place. Jure Franko will go on to win an Olympic medal in the 1983/84 season. The Nova Gorica Grammar School becomes the Secondary School Centre for Natural Sciences. Danilo Kiš publishes the book The Encyclopedia of the Dead. Francesco De Gregori releases the song La Donna Cannone. Tarkovsky directs the film Nostalgia. It is the 40th anniversary of the 1943 Gorizia Front, which united Slovenes and Italians in the fight against German occupation.
